The captain of the Ahal football club and the best player of Turkmenistan 2023, Elman Tagayev, gave an interview to the team’s press service, in which he spoke about the key moments of the past season and shared his goals for the future.
The footballer thanked the fans for their support and recognition of him as the best player of the year. According to him, the memorable events of the season were the AFC Champions League matches and the goal against the Saudi Al-Faiha, which brought victory to Ahal.
Tagayev’s main goal in the upcoming season is to increase the team’s chances of winning every match. The footballer recently recovered from an injury and is now preparing for the championship. 5 newcomers joined Ahal, who, according to Tagayev, will strengthen the team’s game. The upcoming training camp will help them adapt to the club's tactics.
Earlier it was reported that Ahal extended the contract with its captain and took Igor Sekov and Yagshysahet Dovletgeldyev from Merv, Azizbek Bekchanov and Ilyas Charyev from Kopetdag and Akmammet Metdayev from Nebitchi to the team.
In winter, Rahat Japarov, Shohrat Soyunov and Furkat Tursunov also left the team.
