Meylis Diniyev, a striker for the Turkmenistan national team, scored a goal against Dynamo Minsk at the Mogilev Cup 2024 friendly tournament, the Belarusian Football publication reports.
The 23-year-old forward, who is on trial in Gomel, scored the only goal for his club in the 40th minute of the match. However, this was not enough - Dynamo won with a score of 3:1.
Earlier it was reported that Diniyev arrived in Gomel for a trial from the Turkmen club Ahal, with which he became the champion of Turkmenistan in 2022. For the national team of his country, Meylis played one match at the Central Asian Cup, as well as three games at the Asian Youth Cup. The Ahal forward also took part in six group stage matches of the current 2023/24 Asian Champions League, where he scored one assist.
Last season, Gomel finished in sixth place in the Belarusian Premier League. The team won the National Cup three times, and in 2003 won gold medals in the championship.
The club plays its games at the Central Stadium in Gomel. The head coach of the team is Andrey Gorovtsov.
