Aaron Phoenix from the UK has sheltered more than 100 abandoned tarantulas, and in total more than 700 individuals live in his house. This was reported by MIR 24 with reference to the Mirror.

Aaron began collecting tarantulas when doctors told him the hobby could help his mental health after being diagnosed with bipolar disorder. At first he got one spider, but then his collection began to grow. Now he rescues abandoned tarantulas across the country and gives them homes to other spider lovers.

Aaron says spiders help him cope with his bipolar disorder. When he takes care of them, he feels happy and calm.

Tarantulas live in a special room - the “tarantula cave”. The largest spider in his collection is a burgundy goliath tarantula, with a leg span as long as a dinner plate. To feed his pets, a man breeds locusts and mealworms.
