Rafael Nadal named ambassador of tennis in Saudi Arabia

Former world № 1 Rafael Nadal has entered into a long-term agreement with the Saudi Arabian Tennis Federation to become the country's new tennis ambassador. The purpose of the appointment is to help develop sports and inspire a new generation of Saudi athletes, reports TASS.

In addition to encouraging the growth of the sport in general, there are also plans to create a new Nadal Academy, according to the Federation. It will serve as a center of excellence to help aspiring players realize their tennis dreams.

Nadal, 37, is considered one of the greatest tennis players in history. He has 92 victories in ATP tournaments, including 22 Grand Slam titles. He led the world rankings for 209 weeks, is a two-time Olympic champion and a five-time Davis Cup winner with the Spanish national team.
