Midfielder Ruslan Mingazov scored a double for the Turkmen team. Wai Wong scored the only goal for the Hong Kong national team.
The teams have already met in the qualifying tournament for the 2010 World Cup as part of the 1st round of qualification. Then in Hong Kong the teams separated peacefully (0:0), and in Ashgabat the Turkmenistan team won with a score of 3:0. Vladimir Bayramov, Arif Mirzoev and Mekan Nasyrov scored goals.
