As a result of the natural disaster in Ireland, about 100 thousand homes and businesses were left without electricity. A postal worker was hit by flying debris in County Limerick. Fortunately, the woman was not injured.
The Met Office has warned residents in coastal areas of north-west England of the potential for dangerous effects from strong winds. People should be prepared for flying debris, road and bridge closures, possible power outages, etc. Yellow rain warnings were also in place for much of northern England and north Wales and parts of north-east Scotland and Northern Ireland.
