Students and teachers of the department of pop art of the Turkmen National Conservatory named after M. Kuliyeva organized and held a concert dedicated to the upcoming 300th anniversary of the birth of the great Turkmen poet and thinker Magtymguly Fragi.
According to the publication “Turkmenistan: Golden Age”, the prologue to the musical and poetic evening was a fragment from the opera “Magtymguly” by Yuli Meitus, presented in the form of a theatrical performance. Magtymguly's aria was performed by Begench Moshiyev, Mengli's aria by Arzygul Gylyjova.
The concert program included works by the poet; the songs Aýryldym and Otуr-turuşyň gorüp were performed in Uzbek.
The highlight of the program was the song My Beloved performed by Dovran Shammyev to the music of Maysa Mammetjumayeva, head of the department of pop art.
Dovran performed with this song in Albuquerque, where he recently presented Turkmen art with a group of singers and musicians. American listeners liked the song so much that the singer performed it as an encore, the source notes.
The concert ended with the performance of Atamurad Baratov (tar), Aziz Pahruddinov (daira) and Ismail Sabirov (accordion), who performed the song Yar yuzunden to the music of Ovezgeldy Tekayev.
The accompanist of the concert was Ramina Ghadimi.
