The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov proposed to study the creation of a cross-border trade center on the border of the Balkan velayat of Turkmenistan and the Mangystau region of Kazakhstan during a meeting with the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in Astana, reports the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.
The initiative was voiced within the framework of proposals aimed at developing trade and economic relations between the countries and increasing mutual trade turnover by 1 billion US dollars.
In this context, the head of the highest body of people's power of Turkmenistan also proposed to consider the possibility of opening trading houses of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan in Ashgabat and Astana.
To expand trade and economic cooperation, it was proposed to activate the Working Group to increase trade turnover and expand the range of supplied goods between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan, as well as to hold the first meeting of the Turkmen-Kazakh Business Council.
