Turkmenistan took part in the New Silk Way transport business forum in Astana

Representatives of Turkmenistan participated in the 6th international transport and logistics business forum New Silk Way, held in Astana. Deputy General Director of the Agency of Transport and Communications Batyr Annayev spoke about the development and modernization of transport communications in the country.

According to the publication “Big Asia”, he particularly noted that Turkmenistan is modernizing the Turkmenbashy international seaport; cargo ships and ferries are being built at the “Balkan” plant, and a new international airport is being built in the city of Jebel, Balkan velayat.

Turkmenistan, having established cargo flights to Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi (Vietnam), Seoul (Republic of Korea) and Milan (Italy), plans to expand air traffic with countries in Asia and Europe.

In addition, the country continues to build a high-speed highway Ashgabat-Turkmenabat with a length of 600 kilometers. The route will connect the east of Turkmenistan with the center. It is also planned to build the Turkmenbashy-Garabogaz highway, which will become part of the “North-South” corridor.

Batyr Annayev also emphasized the importance of the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railway, declaring Turkmenistan’s interest in implementing joint infrastructure projects, in particular within the framework of the “New Silk Way” initiative, the source notes.
