Serdar Berdimuhamedov laid wreaths at the monuments of the Halk hakydasy Memorial Complex

On October 6, Turkmenistan celebrates the Day of Remembrance of the victims of the 1948 Ashgabat earthquake, as well as the heroes who fell on the battlefields of all wars, reports the State Information Agency TDH.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov took part in the funeral ceremony of laying wreaths at the monuments of the Halk Hakydasy Memorial Complex.

In his speech, the head of state emphasized that the memory of the victims is the sacred duty of every Turkmen citizen. He noted that Turkmens have always united in overcoming difficulties and sorrows, and today, on Remembrance Day, we honor the memory of those who gave their lives for our Motherland.

The President laid wreaths at the foot of the Ruhy tagzym, Milletiň ogullary and Baky şöhrat monuments.

Representatives of government bodies, public organizations, ministries and departments, veterans, students and residents of the capital also laid wreaths at the foot of the monuments.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov called on all Turkmen citizens to honor the memory of those dead and sacredly preserve the peace and independence of our country.

The Ashgabat earthquake of 1948 became one of the largest natural disasters in the history of Turkmenistan. As a result of the earthquake, more than 100 thousand people died, and the city of Ashgabat was almost completely destroyed.

Turkmen people honor the memory of those dead in the earthquake and other tragic events in the history of the country. The Day of Remembrance for the victims of the Ashgabat earthquake and the heroes of all wars is an important day for the Turkmen people.
