Turkmenistan has one of the world's highest growth rates of Japanese language learners

Currently, the number of people studying Japanese in educational institutions of Turkmenistan is about 13 360 people. This was announced by the Ambassador of Japan to Turkmenistan Yamamoto Hiroyuki at the ceremony for the commissioning of 3 classrooms for teaching the Japanese language at the D. Azadi TNIME.

“For comparison, in 2015, when former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe visited Turkmenistan, the number of such students was approximately 50. This is one of the highest growth rates of Japanese language learners in the world. I am very impressed that so many people in this country are interested in our country and are learning Japanese,” the ambassador said.

Turkmen National Institute of World Languages named after. D. Azadi is a higher education institution with the longest history of teaching Japanese in Turkmenistan. Since its opening in 2007, it has graduated more than 100 Japanese language specialists, and its graduates teach Japanese to schoolchildren in educational institutions throughout Turkmenistan, the diplomat emphasized.
