Residents of the city of Lahti (Finland) are given coupons for free coffee or a visit to the pool for old textiles handed over for recycling, reports “Europulse”.
Special points collect used pillowcases, socks, pillows, blankets, rugs and other home textiles. Recycling will be handled by a local factory.
Thanks to the incentive system, the volume of recycled textiles in Lahti increased by 500%. Other cities in Finland have also begun to set up containers to collect old garments and recycle them.
