The ceremony of signing an agreement on holding the World Kurash Championship in 2023 was held in Ashgabat. The event was attended by the Chairman of the State Committee for Physical Culture and Sports of Turkmenistan, Chairman of the International Kurash Association Haider A. Farman and his deputy Zieviddin Khodjiniyazov, as well as representatives of various sports federations, departmental organizations and the media.

In his speech, the head of the International Kurash Association highly appreciated the level of preparation for the upcoming World Championship. He noted that Turkmenistan is one of the strongest kurash centers in the world and expressed confidence that the World Championships in Ashgabat will be held at a high level.

After the speech, the parties signed an agreement on holding the World Kurash Championship in Ashgabat. According to the document, the World Championship will be held from November 23 to 28, 2023 in the martial arts sports complex of the Olympic village of Ashgabat. About 500 athletes from more than 100 countries of the world will take part in the competition.

Turkmenistan will take part in the 2023 World Championship with a team of 13 wrestlers (7 men and 6 women). Last year, at the World Championships in the Indian city of Pune, Turkmen wrestlers won three medals: one silver and two bronze.

Holding the World Kurash Championship in Ashgabat will be an important event in the sports life of Turkmenistan. It will promote the popularization of kurash in the world and the strengthening of international relations of Turkmenistan in the field of sports.
