Turkmenistan increased the volume of passenger traffic by 5.7% in January-June 2023

The Director General of the Transport and Communications Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Mammethan Chakyev reported to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on the work of the institutions of the complex for six months of 2023, the State Information Agency reports.

According to the report, the growth rate for the complex is 124.8%. In the field of cargo transportation, a growth rate of 103.1% was achieved, and in passenger transportation - 105.7%.

It was noted that new vehicles were purchased in the first half of the year, including Yutong ZK6128BEVG, Kamaz-6282 electric buses and JAC E-J7 electric vehicles for the city of Arkadag, as well as two Airbus A330-200P2F cargo aircraft. In addition, new directions for freight traffic were opened - Ashgabat - Seoul - Ashgabat, Ashgabat - Hanoi - Ashgabat.

It was also reported that the International Sea Port of Turkmenbashy received the international certificate "EcoPort" and is included in the list of "Green Ports" of the world.

As part of the implementation of the "Concept for the Development of the Digital Economy in Turkmenistan for 2019-2025", the Türkmenaragatnaşyk Agency carried out a number of practical activities to introduce modern technologies and provide electronic services to the population.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov gave a number of instructions to further develop the complex, increase sea and river cargo transportation, provide quality public transport services in the Avaza National Tourist Zone, and organize summer flights.

The President of Turkmenistan also noted the successful holding in Ashgabat of the International Conference and Exhibition "International Transport and Transit Corridors: Interconnection and Development - 2023" and the International Forum "City of Arkadag - a city of "smart" and "green" technologies, dedicated to the opening of a new city.
