Sweden decided to conduct an unusual experiment and advertise a vacancy for a slacker, according to Public Art Agency Sweden.
An experiment called “Eternal Employment” is being carried out by two artists, Simon Goldin and Jacob Senneby. In accordance with their announcement, in 2025 they plan to hire a person for the position of a slacker with a salary of 2320 USD per month. The only duty of the idler will be to visit the Gothenburg railway station on weekdays, but there are no detailed job descriptions in this regard. If an employee decides to quit, another one will immediately be found in his place.
The idea appeared back in 2019, at the same time it was planned that the Swedish Ministry of Transport would allocate 650 thousand dollars for its implementation, but later officials refused to sponsor this experiment. This year, the authors of the idea nevertheless found other patrons who are ready to invest in creating a vacancy for an idler.
