President Serdar Berdimuhamedov sent heartfelt congratulations to President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko on the occasion of the Independence Day of this republic, which is celebrated today, reports the “Neutral Turkmenistan” newspaper.
In his message, the President of Turkmenistan expressed confidence that friendly relations between the two countries would continue to develop steadily and strengthen in the interests of both peoples.
Taking this pleasant opportunity, the head of Turkmenistan wished President Alexander Lukashenko good health, happiness and great success in responsible state activities, and peace, well-being and prosperity to the friendly people of the Republic of Belarus.
Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus is the main holiday of the Belarusian statehood, celebrated annually on July 3 in honor of the liberation of Minsk from Nazi invaders in 1944.
Since 1991, Independence Day has been celebrated on July 27, the day the Declaration of Sovereignty of the Byelorussian SSR was adopted on July 27, 1990. However, later the decision to celebrate Independence Day on July 3 was made during the republican referendum in 1996.
Independence Day in the Republic of Belarus is a non-working day.
