In Spain, they want to cancel flights for short distances within the country, writes Europulse. The cancellation will affect all domestic flights with a flight time of less than 2,5 hours, such as the Madrid-Barcelona and Madrid-Valencia flights.
As an alternative, it is proposed to use high-speed trains, as it is much more environmentally friendly than airplanes. According to experts, the choice in favor of trains will help reduce greenhouse gas emissions from 54 thousand tons to 27 per year.
The practice of canceling domestic flights for short distances is also applied in France.
