The largest mosque in Central Asia opened in the capital of Tajikistan

On June 8, in Dushanbe, with the participation of the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim ibn Hamad Al Thani, who is in the republic on a state visit, opened the largest mosque in Central Asia, Mir 24 reports.

Emomali Rahmon expressed gratitude to the Emir of Qatar for his contribution to the construction of a masterpiece of national Tajik architecture, and called the implementation of the project the highest example of cooperation between the two countries.

The mosque is built on 12 hectares, the building is located on three hectares and has three large entrances. It can simultaneously accommodate 133 000 worshipers, of which 43,000 worshipers will be inside the mosque, and the rest around it.

Inside the mosque there are six spacious classrooms, a hall for receiving guests and meetings, two libraries, nine study rooms, three hotels and technical rooms. The decoration of the mosque took 6,630 cubic meters of tiles and 2 800 cubic meters of black marble, the source notes.
