Today, a solar power plant with a capacity of 370 kW was opened at the Hasyl Hotel, located in the Avaza National Tourist Zone.
The power plant was installed as part of the project “Sustainable Cities in Turkmenistan: Comprehensive Development of Green Cities in Ashgabat and Avaza”, funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF).
The opening was attended by Narine Sahakyan, UNDP Resident Representative in Turkmenistan.
The power plant is designed to help accelerate the use of solar energy and other renewable energy sources to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and mitigate climate change.
The solar power plant, consisting of 29 solar panels, is expected to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions in CO2 equivalent by up to 104 tons per year.
