Chocolate bar maker Mars Wrigley UK will begin testing new packaging for Mars made from paper instead of plastic.
For two years, manufacturers have been developing paper packaging for bars that can protect against moisture and air. If the Mars bars are successful, Bounty, Milky Way, Snickers and others will also get paper packaging.
The inside of the new paper packaging is lined with a thin layer of plastic, but manufacturers claim that this does not fit paper recycling. The shelf life of the bar in this package is 1 year.
