Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov discussed prospects for expanding cooperation with the head of Daewoo E&C

The prospects for expanding mutually beneficial cooperation became the main topic of discussion during the meeting held today between the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the founder and Chairman of the Board of Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd. Jong Won-ju, the information program Watan of the Turkmen television reported.

The largest Korean companies have been successfully operating in the Turkmen market in the transport, gas, and chemical sectors for a long time. Cars and passenger buses of the world-famous Hyundai brand are regularly supplied to Turkmenistan, important joint projects are being implemented in various fields. Transport and logistics cooperation is also reaching a new level, in particular, taking into account the importance of the International Seaport of Turkmenbashy as the largest transit hub in international cargo transportation.

“Currently, programs for the modernization of the national economy, its development through diversification and the implementation of large-scale production projects are being implemented in Turkmenistan. I believe that there is a good opportunity to expand our cooperation in new areas,” Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized.

In particular, the prospects for studying and implementing the experience of leading Korean developers of the latest technologies for the design, construction and management of "smart city" were noted. As you know, the opening ceremony of the first stage of the modern city of Arkadag is currently being prepared, the construction of which is carried out on the basis of the “smart city” concept, which opens up wide opportunities for further cooperation.

The interest of the Turkmen side in studying the achievements of the Republic of Korea in the field of environmental protection, ecology, the introduction of energy-saving technologies and renewable energy sources was expressed. The possibility of discussing new areas of cooperation in the oil and gas sector was also emphasized.

As noted, Turkmenistan considers the Republic of Korea among the priority economic partners, with which it intends to build long-term, strategic relations, and in this regard is waiting for the proposal of the Korean side.

Thanking the head of the Korean company for an open and fruitful conversation, the head of the highest representative body of people's power expressed confidence that between Turkmenistan and Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd. a mutually beneficial partnership will be established.
