Turkmen students got acquainted with energy efficient technologies

On May 3, a series of lectures on energy efficiency and the development of renewable energy sources was held for students of the Institute of Engineering, Technical and Transport Communications and the Turkmenbashy Maritime Secondary Vocational School. UNDP specialists in Turkmenistan took part as speakers.

The lectures were held to increase awareness and knowledge on the topic of introducing innovative energy-efficient technologies, as well as to discuss the role of the transport sector in the energy field.

The lectures were followed by a round table on sustainable energy, which provided faculty and students with an interactive platform to discuss contemporary issues and find solutions in the field of sustainable energy, according to a UNDP press release.

The lectures were one of the events held within the framework of the joint initiative “Sustainable Energy Days in Turkmenistan”, organized by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) project “Sustainable Cities in Turkmenistan: Integrated Development of Green Cities in Ashgabat and Avaza” and a project funded by the European Union (EU ) “Sustainable Energy Connections in Central Asia (SECCA)”, by the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan and the hyakimlik of the city of Turkmenbashy, with the assistance of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan.

The project “Sustainable Cities in Turkmenistan: Integrated Development of Green Cities in Ashgabat and Avaza” aims to promote the development of sustainable cities and reduce the negative consequences of urban growth in the country, such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution, implementing energy consumption reduction, improving environmental monitoring and sustainable waste management, development of sustainable transport as part of the country's efforts to achieve socio-economic development goals.
