Over 154 000 tourists visited Azerbaijan in April 2023, which is 83% more than in the same period in 2022, the State Tourism Agency of Azerbaijan reports.
Turkmenistan entered the top 15 countries in terms of the number of tourists visiting Azerbaijan in April 2023. According to statistics, over 1 900 Turkmen citizens arrived in Azerbaijan last month for tourism purposes.
Russia ranks first in terms of the number of tourists who came to Azerbaijan in April - 47.1 thousand people. The second place is occupied by Turkey (30.2 thousand people), and the third by Iran (10.7 thousand people).
We remind that Azerbaijan issues ASAN electronic visas to citizens of Turkmenistan. An e-visa is the equivalent of a traditional visa, it gives a foreign citizen the right to enter the country. ASAN visas are issued for a single visit up to 30 days. Citizens of Turkmenistan can also apply for a visa in advance at the consular section of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Ashgabat.
The land borders of the republic remain closed for crossing until July 1, 2023. Visiting Azerbaijan is possible only by air transport.
