“Napoli” have become Italian football champions for the first time since 1990

“Napoli” played a draw on the road with “Udinese” in the match of the 33rd round of the Italian Football Championship and became the winner of the tournament ahead of schedule. The meeting was held on Thursday and ended with a score of 1:1, reports TASS.

“Napoli” became the champion of Italy for the third time. Previously, the Neapolitans won the trophy in the 1986/87 and 1989/90 seasons, when the Argentinean Diego Maradona played for the team.

The club from Naples scored 80 points after 33 matches. Second-placed “Lazio” are 16 points behind the Neapolitans with five rounds left in the championship, the Romans can score a maximum of 15 points. Turin's “Juventus”, which is in third place, played 33 games and scored 63 points.

The head coach of “Napoli” is 64 years old Luciano Spalletti, who won the Italian championship for the first time.
