British singer Ed Sheeran proved the absence of plagiarism in his song Thinking Out Loud by performing it right in court on the guitar, reports CBS News.

The singer was accused of plagiarism by Marvin Gaye, the author of the song Let's Get It On, which he wrote in 1973. To prove his innocence, Ed Sheeran played the melody of the song on the guitar in court, then sang a few lines from it and told those present about how the song was created. The singer said that he wrote it without knowing the notes, in addition, he did not write the whole song himself.

Earlier, testifying in the same case, Sheeran noted that songs written in the same key often seem similar.
