Mustafa Balci, the billionth passenger of Turkish Airlines, took off on an Istanbul-Adiyaman flight on Monday, Anadolu Agency reports.
The passenger in the metropolis was personally escorted by the head of the board of the national air carrier, Ahmet Bolat, handing over to his compatriot a coupon for 1 million travel miles.
According to Bolat, the airline, founded in 1933, is setting itself an ambitious new goal - to reach the bar of 2 billion passengers.
“We have reached the mark of one billion passengers in 90 years. We hope to double this figure in 8 years, in 2031,” he said.
