US gunsmiths have released a “smart gun” equipped with a fingerprint scanner, writes the New York Post.
A fingerprint scanner configured for one or more owners will not permit an outsider to use a weapon. Such a measure, according to its authors, is aimed at preventing school shootings, accidents involving young children and suicide attempts.
The weapon in the kit will have a portable charger. The cost of the “smart gun” is about 1,5 thousand dollars, it will go on mass sale in 2024.
