In March 2023, over 136 000 tourists visited Azerbaijan, which is 42% more than in the same period in 2022, the State Tourism Agency of Azerbaijan reports.

In March 2022, this figure was more than 95 thousand people.

Turkmenistan entered the top 15 countries in terms of the number of tourists visiting Azerbaijan in March 2023. According to statistics, over 1 900 Turkmen citizens arrived in Azerbaijan last month for tourism purposes.

Russia ranks first in terms of the number of tourists who came to Azerbaijan in March - 43.9 thousand people. The second place is occupied by Turkey (30.4 thousand people), and the third by Iran (12.1 thousand people).

We remind that Azerbaijan has resumed issuing electronic visas to citizens of Turkmenistan since July 2022. An e-visa is the equivalent of a traditional visa, it gives a foreign citizen the right to enter the country. ASAN visas are issued for a single visit up to 30 days. Citizens of Turkmenistan can also apply for a visa in advance at the consular section of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Ashgabat.

Since March 28, 2023, Azerbaijan has lifted all covid restrictions for aircraft arriving in the country. All foreigners can enter and leave the country by air, no certificate of vaccination or immunity is required for entry. Also, a certificate will not be needed for intercity trips, visiting hotels, catering establishments, shopping centers and gyms.
