Uzbek surgeons of the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center of Traumatology and Orthopedics together with doctors of the Russian National Research Medical University named after. N.I. Pirogov performed a unique operation to remove a hemivertebra, correct scoliotic deformity and stabilize with an endocorrector for a patient aged 1 year and 4 months, reports Sputnik Uzbekistan with reference to the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan.
This is the first time such an operation has been performed on such a small patient - previously such complex operations were performed on older children. The operation was successful, the child's condition is assessed as satisfactory.
A child born in 2021 turned out to have a congenital curvature of the thoracolumbar region of the spine, which led to changes in other organs of the chest.
