The youth weightlifting team of Turkmenistan won the third medal at the world championship in Albania.
In the weight category up to 59 kg at the Youth World Championships held in Durres, Albania, the representative of Turkmenistan, Medine Amanova, lifted 90 kg in the snatch and 109 kg in the clean and jerk. She became the gold medalist of the world championship with a result of 199 kg.
The silver medal went to Jessica Palacios from Ecuador - 195 kg (88+107). The top three was closed by an athlete from Albania Enkileda Karja - 187 kg (87 + 100).
268 athletes from 57 countries are participating in the current junior world championship in weightlifting. The competition started on March 25 and will end on April 1. The competition is an annual event and is held under the auspices of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF).

Earlier, Ogulshat Amanova ascended the highest step of the podium. In the weight category up to 45 kg, in which 12 athletes competed, she effectively used all six test attempts, winning silver in the snatch (71 kg) and two golds in the clean and jerk (85 kg) and the combined event (156 kg).
Three medals from Albania from the Youth World Championship 2023 will be taken home by another Turkmen athlete, Perhat Bagtiyarov. In the weight category up to 61 kg, in which 18 weightlifters from 16 countries competed for awards, a 16-year-old student of the 10th grade of the Ashgabat sports school "Olimp" realized four out of six valid attempts, winning gold in the snatch (114 kg) and two silver in the clean and jerk ( 144 kg) and biathlon (258 kg).
