11 million Yemeni children are in need of urgent humanitarian assistance, according to the UN on its official website. According to statistics, every 10 minutes in this Middle Eastern country one child dies, and most could be helped, since the cause of death is curable diseases. More than 500 thousand children in Yemen are starving.

The cause of the humanitarian catastrophe in Yemen is the 8 year long civil war that led to an economic crisis, as well as a very weak system of state social support. Millions of the country's inhabitants are forced to live in tent camps, in unsanitary conditions, without medical care, education and normal nutrition.

More than 11 thousand children were killed or seriously injured in Yemen between 2015 and 2022. Many of them are involved in hostilities, forced to work on an equal basis with adults or enter into early marriages. According to UNICEF representative in Yemen Peter Hawkins, the country has already grown up a generation of children who know nothing but war.

UNICEF provides assistance to the people of Yemen, but in the context of hostilities, the Organization's capabilities are often insufficient.
