Priority issues of cooperation in the Commonwealth format were discussed today by the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov with the Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Independent States Sergey Lebedev, who heads the mission of observers from the CIS for the elections of deputies of the Mejlis and members of local representative authorities, which will be held on March 26, the information program "Watan" of the Turkmen television reported .
Turkmenistan invariably takes a proactive position in matters of interaction in the CIS space, as evidenced by regularly put forward proposals to stimulate and expand multilateral ties in various fields, including in the field of sports, Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted.
He also stressed that the solid potential existing in the Commonwealth states creates broad prospects and opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation.
Expressing heartfelt gratitude for the time taken, Sergey Lebedev informed the head of state about the activities of the CIS mission, emphasizing that all conditions have been created in Turkmenistan for the effective work of international observers.
The President of Turkmenistan noted that the elections of deputies of the national parliament, as well as members of local authorities and self-government, scheduled for March 26, are a significant social and political event in the life of the country.
