Amendments have been made to the State Duma of the Russian Federation on a gradual increase in the draft age for military service to 21 years, the press service of the State Duma reports.
“In order to guarantee the receipt by citizens of both secondary general education and secondary vocational or higher education, it is proposed to gradually raise the lower limit of the draft age to 21 years (currently from 18 years old),” the message says.
In addition, the bill provides for an increase in the upper limit of the draft age to 30 years (currently up to 27 years).
It should be noted that the document provides for a transitional period until 2026. If adopted, the draft age in 2024 will be from 19 to 30 years, in 2025 - from 20 to 30 years, from January 1, 2026 - from 21 to 30 years.
