CAFA and WAFF signed a memorandum of understanding in Bahrain

The Central Asian Football Association (CAFA) and West Asian Football Federation (WAFF) have signed a Memorandum of understanding, the CAFA press-service reports.

The signing ceremony took place on Tuesday in Manama (Bahrain) and was held in a friendly atmosphere, the message says.

The document was signed by the WAFF Secretary General Halil Al-Salem (Jordan) and the CAFA Secretary General Ulugbek Karimov (Tajikistan).

The West Asian Football Federation is a division of the Asian Football Confederation that oversees the development of football in West Asia. Founded in 2001. The founding members of the West Asian Football Federation are Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Palestine, Lebanon and Syria. In 2009, the UAE, Qatar and Yemen joined the federation, and in 2010 — Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait and Bahrain. Iran withdrew from the federation in 2014 after the creation of CAFA.

The Football Association of Central Asia is a division and association in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) that controls football in the countries of Central Asia. Founded on June 10, 2014, officially began functioning on January 9, 2015. It unites the football federations of Afghanistan, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. Until mid-2015, the organization was called the Central Asian Football Federation
