Physicists from the Technical University of Denmark have created the world's smallest music disc, writes Ferra.ru.
The miracle record is 40 micrometers (0,04 mm) in diameter and contains the first 25 seconds of the Christmas song Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree.
On the surface of the polymer plate, you can see the recesses - sound channels, like on a real vinyl record, and in the center, we even managed to place an image in the form of decorated Christmas trees and the signature: “Merry Christmas from the Technical University of Denmark”.
Recordings on a micro-plate can only be heard using an atomic force microscope or Nanofrazor, an apparatus with a needle measuring a few microns.
