The International Association of air transport announced plans to cancel so called “100 milliliter rule” which prohibits taking onboard the aircraft in your hand luggage a container with liquid with a volume more than 100 milliliters, “Komsomolskaya Pravda” writes.
Such rule was introduced in 2007 in the aims of provision of safety of passengers’ flights and prevention of terrorist attacks. The presence of a flammable liquid onboard aircraft is dangerous in itself, and in case of combination several liquid components it is quite realistic to make an improvised explosive device.
After the introduction of this rule, passengers had to carefully consider the contents of their hand luggage in order to be able to bring on board the necessary medicines in liquid form or water, and not violate the law.
The lifting of the ban on carrying more than 100 milliliters of liquid on board the aircraft is planned no earlier than 2024. Passengers will be able to bring on board much more liquids, aerosols or gels they need, provided that they do not arouse suspicion from the airport security service.
