Turkmenistan logistics center will occur in the Astrakhan region within two years

The logistics center of Turkmenistan is planned to be located in the port special economic zone (PSEZ) in the Astrakhan region within two years, “Interfax” writes with the reference to the Minister of Industry and natural resources of the region Ilya Volynskiy.

“Territorial branches will be located at the port special economic zone, in the Olya port. There is a territory for construction of logistics centers and warehouses. In the Astrakhan region will registered a company for the execution of this project. The decision on development of a business plan for this project was made. And they have to build it tentatively in two years”, the Minister said.

He specified that the agreements on the implementation of the project is reached on the levels of the Government of the Astrakhan region and Turkmenistan.

“The instruction on the development of a business plan was addressed to the Agency of Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan. We will advise the Turkmen side. After the preparation of the business plan, an application for registration of the company as a resident of the PSEZ will be sent. After that, a plot is allocated for their requirements. We are waiting for these parameters – by area, by communications”, Volynsky added.

Earlier, the Governor of the Astrakhan region Igor Babushkin at a meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission for Economic Cooperation announced the implementation of a project to open a logistics center of Turkmenistan in the Astrakhan region, the implementation of which will increase the status of the International Seaport of Turkmenbashi within the framework of the international transport corridor “North-South”.

“Recent years mutual trade turnover between Russian and Turkmenistan has shown a good dynamic. Among the priority directions for the development of the partnership are the oil and gas field, industry, logistics and trade”, Babushkin commented.
