The work on the preservation and popularization of historical and cultural heritage in Turkmenistan was told at the forum in Kazan

The UNESCO International Forum dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the World Heritage Convention has ended in the capital city of the Republic of Tatarstan. Together, at this forum joined their efforts the representatives of 56 countries including Turkmenistan.

Turkmenistan delegation took part in various events, including the opening ceremony and the plenary forum meeting, held on December 5, at the State Great Concert Hall named after S.Saydashev.

On the second day, seven thematic conferences were held on the sidelines of the anniversary forum and the youth model of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee was presented. The head of the Department of Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan Gozel Magtymgulyeva participated in the scientific section “Cultural heritage on the Silk Road as an incentive for dialogue and development in the Eurasian space”. During meetings with colleagues from around the world, she shared her experience of the work carried out in Turkmenistan on the preservation and popularization of cultural heritage. The purpose of the conference dedicated to the Great Silk Road was to develop joint approaches to the preservation of cultural and natural heritage monuments.

The responsible secretaries of the national commissions of this international structure discussed multilateral cooperation at UNESCO. At the meeting Turkmenistan was represented by Chynar Rustamova, the executive secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO.

On the same day, delegates from the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan took part in the inter-ministerial consultations.

On December 8, at the final meeting, the results of the work of thematical sections were summed up and the final forum declaration was adopted.

Let’s remind that for half a century the Convention on the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage of 1972 as a unique legal instrument, has gained the widest recognition, has become the flagship UNESCO program, due to which thousands of monuments of culture and nature of universal significance has been preserved.
