The footballers of the Australian national team beat the Danish team with a score of 1:0 in the match of the third round of group tournament of the World Cup in Qatar.
The only goal was scored by striker Matthew Leckie (60th minute).
The Australian national team scored 6 points and took second place in “D” group. The best in the group were the French (6 points), who lost in a parallel match to Tunisia (0:1). The French national team is higher than the Australian team in the standings of group “D” only by the difference of goals scored and conceded. The Tunisian team scored four points, the Danish team scored one point.
Australia last reached the World Cup playoffs in 2006 in Germany, where in the 1/8 finals it lost to the future world champions - the Italian team (0:1).
