The parliamentarians of Russia and Turkmenistan should come up with joint initiatives. It was stated by Chairman of Halk Maslahaty of the Milli Gengesh Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, while giving a speech today at the 532nd meeting of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, reports the press-service of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation.
The Head of the Upper Chamber stressed that the active cooperation of the legislators of the two countries on the platform of the Interparliamentary Union.
“Our delegations need to jointly build up cooperation and determine priorities in accordance with traditional values and basic attitudes historically inherent in our peoples”, said Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
As per his opinion, the major meaning gains the communication in the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
“This is a perspective direction. I’m sure that the parliamentarians of Russia and Turkmenistan should take joint initiatives on this platform, before all, in strengthening the legal basis of cooperation of the CIS member countries”, stressed the head of the Halk Maslahaty of the national Parliament.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also named activities within the framework of regional and interregional forums among the effective forms of interaction. As an example, he cited the Forum of Central Asian Countries and Russia held in May and the Dialogue of Women of Central Asia and Russia.
Former President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov is visiting Russia for the first time with a three-day official visit in the rank of Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of the Milli Gengesh. The politician also has a “round table” in Moscow with the participation of Russian senators and a number of negotiations.
