The construction of the Turkmen-Russian University will begin in Ashgabat in 2023. Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Milli Gengesh Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov informed speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko about this at the talks in Moscow.
The speaker of the upper chamber of the Parliament of the Russian Federation expressed deep gratitude to the chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan for the constant attention to the Russian language and Russian culture in general, and also for the initiative to create a Turkmen-Russian university in Ashgabat.
“Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov announced that next year, in the Year of the Russian Language, we can already lay the foundation of this university”, - the State News Agency Turkmenistan quotes the words of Matvienko.
Let us remind that the agreement on the establishment of a joint Turkmen-Russian university was reached following the results of the talks held in June this year in Moscow between Presidents Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Vladimir Putin.
At present time, over 30 thousand students from Turkmenistan study in Russia, of which more than 4,3 thousand are on a budgetary basis.
