Serdar Berdimuhamedov congratulated Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the Independence Day of Uzbekistan

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on behalf of the people and the Government of Turkmenistan, and also on his own behalf sent personal warm congratulations to President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and to all fraternal people of the country on the occasion of the Independence Day of the Republic of Uzbekistan celebrated today. It was reported in today’s edition of the newspaper “Neutral Turkmenistan”.

“Since gaining independence, Uzbekistan has reached impressive success in political, economic and social development, enjoys well-deserved reputation in the international arena, plays a constructive role in solution of acute issues off regional and global agenda”, the congratulatory message reads.

Noting that in Turkmenistan the achieved level of cooperation between the countries is highly appreciated and great importance is attached to its strengthening and further expansion, head of state expressed readiness to continue to apply joint efforts to actively promote Turkmen-Uzbek strategic relations to new horizons for the benefit of the fraternal peoples of the two countries.

Using this pleasant opportunity, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed sincere wishes of sound health, happiness and well-being to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and fraternal people of the Republic of Uzbekistan– peace, further progress and prosperity.

The Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also congratulated President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the 31st anniversary of independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan, addressing him wishes of good health and happiness, and to the brotherly people of the neighboring country – peace, well-being and prosperity.

On August 31, 1991, the Supreme Soviet of the Uzbek SSR adopted a historic decision – the Law “On the Foundations of State Independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan”, and the corresponding Resolution approved September 1 as Independence Day. Since then, every year the main national holiday is ceremonially and colorfully celebrated throughout the country. Large-scale celebrations are held in the Alisher Navoi National Park in Tashkent, concerts, theatrical performances and sporting events are organized in all cities of the republic.
