The production area “Lotos” of the Southern Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Center in Astrakhan Region of the Russian Federation was visited by the delegation headed by the Head of Agency “Turkmendenizderyayollary” of the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers, Seyitguly Bayseyidov, the official website of the JSC “SSSRC” reports.
The visit to the enterprise took place as part of a working trip to the special economic zone “Lotos”, where the plant is an anchor resident. JSC “SSSRC” is part of JSC “United Shipbuilding Corporation”.
Together with Dmitriy Stepanov, Managing Director of JSC “SSSRC” — the managing organization of the SEZ “Lotos”, the Turkmen delegation got acquainted with the production capabilities of the shipyard.
The “Lotos” plant specializes in the construction of “river-sea” class vessels, blocks of offshore floating and stationary drilling platforms.
During the visit, the parties discussed the possibilities and directions of cooperation in the field of shipbuilding between the Astrakhan region and Turkmenistan. As noted by Seyitguly Bayseyidov, the delegation included shipowners, logisticians interested in establishing contacts with the shipyards of the Astrakhan region. Of particular interest was the cooperation within the framework of training engineers and specialists for Turkmenistan.
In 2020 in Turkmenistan was signed a Memorandum on cooperation in the shipbuilding and ship repair sector between the Russian JSC “United Shipbuilding Corporation” (USC) and Turkmen shipyard and ship repair plant
“Balkan”. The USC working group was created where the employees of “Southern Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Center” are also included, on issues of implementation of joint projects in the sphere of civil shipbuilding and marine engineering with Turkmenistan.
