The Thai authorities are introducing a new type of visa that will permit foreigners to live and work in the country for 10 years. Holders of a long-term resident visa (Long-Term Resident (LTR) Visa) will be able to count on tax and other benefits in Thailand. It is expected that over the next 5 years their number in the kingdom will increase to 1 million people. In accordance with the information on the website of the new Thai visa program: “Four categories of citizens will be able to apply for a visa: wealthy foreigners with assets of at least 1 million USD, pensioners over the age of 50 who receive a pension and a stable income of at least 80 thousand per year, or ready-made to impressive investments, employees of international companies working in a remote format, and in-demand specialists in certain industries”. Applications for a long-term resident visa will be accepted from September 1.
It is noted that if the application is approved, LTR Visa will first be issued for 5 years with a possible extension of its validity for another 5 years.
