A meeting of the Turkmen-Chinese subcommittee on cooperation on security issues was held

The 8th meeting of the Subcommittee on cooperation in the area of security of the Turkmen-Chinese Committee on Cooperation was held in the format of a videoconference under the co-chairmanship of the Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the two countries.

The results of activities of the executed activities for a year were reviewed, reports from representatives of the delegations were heard.

In his speech, the co-chair of the Subcommittee from the Turkmen side, V.Hajiyev, noted that Turkmenistan considers the partnership between Turkmenistan and the People's Republic of China in the fight against terrorism, separatism and extremism as common contribution to the implementation of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy.

The situation in Afghanistan was one of the topics discussed. It was noted that Turkmenistan considers peacebuilding in this country in an integrated approach to solving political, economic, social and humanitarian issues. In this context, gratitude was expressed to the Chinese side for its active support of international initiatives aimed at establishing peace and sustainable development in Afghanistan.

Moreover, the Turkmen representatives proposed to hold consultations between relevant departments in the second half of 2022 in order to implement the Agreement between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of the People's Republic of China on cooperation in the field of ensuring international information security, signed on November 22, 2021, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports.
