Turkmen athlete Saparly Muhyyev became the silver medalist of the Youth World Weightlifting Championship. The tournament holds in Leon (Mexico).
In the weight category up to 96 kg among young men, the Turkmen athlete lifted 300 kg in total (133 kg in the snatch and 167 in the clean and jerk). Gervasi Tabagari, playing for Georgia, won with a result of 317 kg (177+140).
Bronze went to the Mexican Pablo Medina, who showed the same result (300 kg) as Muhyyev, but lost in additional indicators.
205 athletes (115 girls and 90 boys) from 39 countries in 20 weight categories are contest the medals of the 2022 World Championship in Mexico.
Turkmenistan is represented by seven weightlifters at these competitions: three in the men’s tournament and four in the women’s.
The world championship will end on June 18.
