The Japanese company Hokuyupack Co. paid three million yen for two melons of “yubari” sort of the new harvest. The auction took place on the Hokkaido island. As per mir24, melons of this sort are considered to be elite due to the rich sweet taste of the juicy flesh of a soft orange color. “Yubari” melons have almost perfect spherical shape and are considered a wonderful gift in Japan.
It is noted that the company on selling and packaging of the fruits and vegetables Hokuyupack Co. acquired them for a free melon tasting event in the city of Yubari.
Royal “yubari” melon is one of the most expensive melon crops in the world. So, last year melons of this sort were sold for 2.7 million yen (21.2 thousand US dollars), and in 2019 the record was established – two fruits were sold for five million yen (39.25 thousand US dollars).
