A round table on discussing the development of a joint action plan to promote equality and eliminate all forms of discrimination against women brought together about 30 representatives of public organizations of Turkmenistan.

As informs the publication ashgabat.in, this event was organized in a hybrid format by the public organization “Keyik Okara” with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Governance Support Program (GSP) in Turkmenistan.

Representatives of such public organization as “Keyik Okara”, “Agama”, “Ýenme”, Union of Economists of Turkmenistan”, “Yashyl Shohle”, “Professional Accountant” spoke at the meeting. Each organization spoke on its contribution to the promotion of gender equality.

Then participants were involved in the interactive game “Gender Inequality”, the purpose of which was to demonstrate the whole range of problems of one particular case, when a woman became a victim of domestic violence, to show her feelings and thoughts.

After that, the participants proceeded directly to the discussion of the draft plan of joint activities to promote gender equality by public organizations. The participants unanimously decided to implement the joint plan, including their activities this year. Also, the participants agreed to join forces in promoting gender equality through joint decision-making.

The round table is the result of a seminar held in March on the “Role of Public Associations in Promoting Gender Equality”, notes the source.
