Today, Foreign Ministers Rashid Meredov and Mukhtar Tileuberdi discussed strengthening cooperation between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan by phone.
According to the Press Service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry, the diplomats discussed the lines and schedule of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Kazakh Commission, taking into account the previously reached agreements during the bilateral meetings of Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
The commission's work plans will consider documents, proposals of the parties, promising areas of interstate cooperation in the economic, cultural, scientific and technical fields, including further expansion of business contacts under previously reached agreements.
To recap, on October 24-25, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev paid a state visit to Turkmenistan. During the negotiations at the highest level, a number of interstate documents were signed, including an agreement on the delimitation of the Kazakh-Turkmen state border and the delimitation of adjacent sections of fishing zones in the Caspian Sea and an intergovernmental agreement on the boundary regime, as well as steps for further cooperation were outlined.
