The skull of an ancient man found during archaeological excavations suggests that people who lived in what is now China during the Pleistocene period may have had an “Einstein's brain”. Scientists came to this conclusion after discovering a skull with a volume of 1700 cubic centimeters, reports mir24 with reference to the Journal of Human Evolution. Researchers believe that the owner of the skull lived from 200,000 to 160,000 years ago.

He was named “Suijiao Man” after the archaeological site where the skull was found. It is noted that he was the owner of the largest head for his era. The Suijiao find was the earliest evidence of a large brain, the size of which corresponds to the upper limits for Neanderthals and modern Homo sapiens. This finding, according to scientists, will shed light on why the brain of our ancestors changed so much, and will provide “lost fragments’ in human evolution.
